Allow your lawn to grow at least three inches high. When mowing, cut no more than one inch off the top. Mow only when the grass is dry. |

Leave the grass clippings in place, do not bag them. They decompose quickly, are a natural fertilizer, keep the lawn moist and protect against disease. |

Water your lawn in the early morning hours (between 6 and 10 a.m.). Water a maximum of three to four hours per week, less if it rains. |

Don't over fertilize. Grass clippings left in place actually fertilize your lawn. Fertilizer needs to be applied only three times a year, around Memorial Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving. |

Keep your mower blade sharp and consider investing in a mulching blade for your current lawnmower. These blades cut and recut the grass more finely and greatly aid the decomposition process. when it comes time for a new mower, you may consider replacing it with a mulching or recycling mower. |
